Beyond The Classroom

Half Term Holiday Project - The Romans

For their half term holiday project, Year 5 pupils were tasked with creating their very own Roman shield or sword. Pupils were encouraged to conduct their own research into their new topic, The Romans, and used their artistic and D&T skills to produce a range of eye-catching weaponry.

Year 5 Trip to the Science Museum

Year 5 went on an exciting trip to the Science Museum in South Kensington, where they were able to experience science being brought to life outside of the classroom. The highlight of the trip was their visit to the  Wonderlab, where the students experimented with forces, electricity and lights and looked at how magnets worked. The group also explored the museum’s space exhibition, to immerse them into the topic for next term.

The trip provided the Year 5s with a mesmerising experience, creating excitement for science in ways that are not possible in the classroom. The children left inspired, buzzing with new knowledge and a deeper appreciation of science.

Holiday Homework Projects

For their summer holiday homework project, Year 5 children were invited to make an African savannah in a box, using materials they could find at home. This project encouraged children to research different features of the savannah, ensuring they were ready for their brand new topic of Africa when they returned at the beginning of the school year.
