Year 6 Poetry Workshop
Year 6 were delighted to participate in a poetry workshop hosted by Salisbury Primary School's Chair of Governors, Yvonne Murray. Yvonne is a keen poet, who has had her poetry published, and she was eager to share her love of creating poems with the year group.
Pupils listened to some poems written by Yvonne and were then given a stimulus in the form of a few words in order to create their own fantastic poems.
During the course of the afternoon, children wrote poems they had heard of before (acrostic poems) and were able to explore a new genre of poem (anaphora). The children (and their teachers) were extremely proud of the work they had produced and could not wait to share their poems with Yvonne and their peers.
