Brilliant Club Graduation
This week, fourteen of our brightest stars from Year 6 travelled to Kings College London in order to attend their graduation from The Scholars Programme (Brilliant Club). During the Autumn term, pupils attended regular tuition sessions with a PhD tutor who helped them to explore the theme of nature within literature. Our pupils then worked hard to produce their own written introduction involving nature, using a range of transferable skills to then produce a critical analysis of their writing.
At the graduation, our pupils were given more of an introduction into the world of higher education. They were able to take part in a Q&A session with current Kings College students, where they found out what university life is like, from studying to social aspects. They were also given a tour of the campus, which was much bigger than we could have imagined!
Year 5 and Year 6 Police Assembly
This afternoon, Year 5 and Year 6 were visited by three members of the local police station. They conducted a really informative assembly, helping children to understand the role of the police in our local community and discussing with the children how to stay safe in a variety of situations. The officers also informed children about personal responsibility and how to stay on the right side of the law. The children were extremely engaged throughout and asked lots of questions at the end of the session that the officers were only too happy to answer. As they said during the assembly, if you see them near the school, make sure you say 'Hello'!
Junior Citizens Event
Our Year 6 students recently participated in a series of engaging workshops run by the Metropolitan Police, in conjunction with the London Fire Brigade, TFL and other organisations. During these invaluable sessions, our young learners explored what it means to be informed citizens and developed essential skills to make thoughtful choices as they prepare for their transition to secondary school.
These workshops covered a range of topics, from understanding the importance of community engagement to learning how to navigate challenging situations with confidence and responsibility. The students left feeling inspired and empowered, equipped with knowledge that will guide them in their journey ahead.
A huge thank you to the Metropolitan Police for facilitating these workshops and reinforcing the significance of safety, responsibility, and civic awareness in our children's lives.
